Finalist, take two :)

Gruesome greetings from Umgateth, land of Sosk…

I just got word that the latest draft is a finalist in the WILDsound Feature Screenplay contest. I’m not sure how my script will fare against screenplays with titles like “Rock Hard Big Dick’s” or “Sons of Lasagna”, but The Sleeping Deep will do its best.  Link here:

However, the judges did send me coverage and concluded with this promising note:

You’ve accomplished a miracle — a truly engaging and horrifying genre piece that completely avoids the recent trend toward over the top unnecessary gore. There’s great scenes of suspense, lots of great relationships, and a lot of very memorable and likable characters. You have a handle on pacing, exposition, dialogue, and professional formatting. Very well done.”

Fingers are crossed.

In other news, Red Brick Films‘ John Tulin has reason to celebrate. Mind’s Eye, the independent thriller he shot, cut and co-produced, won First Place for dramatic feature at this year’s Hollywood East Film Festival. Here’s a pic of John accepting the award. Big congrats to JT, Alex Vigano (the film’s director and writer), cast and crew!! Visit for more information.

Ron Elwell (playing Kevin in the promotional materials for The Sleeping Deep screen tests) plays the role of Red in Mind’s Eye. Here’s a shout-out to you, Ron. Woot! Woot!

I just picked up some paper for the walls of Kevin’s room. I’ll be heading over there shortly to do some set dressing. When I get it going I’ll post some before and after pics. I think it’s going to come together nicely. Michael Mulchahy, my Davis creative counterpart, will be helping with props and such. We spent the day brainstorming ideas for the room. Fun!

OK. That’s it for now. I hope everyone is busy with that which makes you happy or rich or just keeps you out of trouble. ;)
